I didn't want to post this before my birthday (March 12) because I didn't want to appear to be soliciting birthday greetings. What am I saying? I always love to hear people say "Happy Birthday" to me. I just don't want to draw attention to myself.
I can just hear my family snickering now saying, "She doesn't want to draw attention to herself? Since when!?!?!?!"
Oh well, I'm certainly trying to be less of a drama queen in public and even at home.
I had a remarkably wonderful birthday. Over the years I have come to not expect much recognition on birthdays so I was pleasantly surprised when a number of people acknowledged my birthday in ways that really warmed my heart.
I was taken out to lunch by a thoughtful friend! Thanks, Janet!! I got a card in the mail on the day of my birthday from another dear friend. Thanks, Joy!!
The next day there was a cake at Paideia. Well, sure it was Jennifer's cake, I think. We share a birthday, but it was a yummy cake and I enjoyed it a lot. Then the Abenses took Craig and I out to dinner. That was a wonderful evening and quite a surprise!! Thanks!!
I got a phone call from my parents even though I had just talked to them a couple of days before.
I got a phone call from my daughter and she even put several of her friends on the phone and they individually greeted me and one of them even sang to me. That was a great gift!! Thanks Kylie and your Belhaven buddies.
My wonderful husband cooked a great dinner and he and my sons all went out to a movie. When we came home I opened presents. I got four, count 'em four DVD's : The Guardian, Lady in the Water, Pearl Harbor, and Amadeus (the Director's Cut). WOW. Thanks guys!!
It was a wonderful birthday, not just because of the gifts and the meals, but all the thoughts of love that went into them. I felt loved. I am loved. I need to remember that on the not so special days.
